Alpine Strawberry 'Mignonette'

Tiny Mignonette strawberries are a bit seedy and very flavorful.
They produce fruit all summer long and are a special treat.

Chilly Bumblebee

While photographing chives for a new header,
I happened upon a bumblebee warming up in the morning sun.
What an interesting little creature.

Golden Sage

The golden sage looks particularly nice today.
Lovely colors and textures.

This Is My Father's World

This is my Father's World,
And to my list'ning ears,
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.

A Lost Day

I think we lost a day somewhere on the long trip home.
One of the last photos from York, a view of York Minster
from the ancient wall that surrounds the city.

Farewell, York

Our last full day in York was a busy one.
We enjoyed a pipe organ concert.

Toured Fairfax House, (a Georgian home) where no photos were allowed.

Visited Holy Trinity Goodramgate, a 1000 year old church.

And ate a Yorkshire pork pie while enjoying
a view of York Minster.

St. Mary's Abbey

St. Mary's Abbey, a ruined Benedictine abbey, was built in 1055
and closed and destroyed in 1539, by order of Henry VIII.
We were surprised by the great size of the building.

Makes me want to read some of the Brother Cadfael books, again.

The Train to York

Traveling to York by train was a lot of fun.
Great view, wifi, interesting conversations with other travelers
and very efficient service.
Speed reached 103 mph!

View from the train, I think it's in Newcastle.

Walked from the train station to our lodgings in York.
This church is just across the street.

After unpacking, we headed across the River Ouse
for a walk around town and grocery shopping at
Marks and Spencer.

Then home for dinner and Chelsea Flower Show coverage on the BBC.

A fine day was had by all.

Costco, Edinburgh Style

It looks the same on the outside.

However, the inventory is quite different.

Several of the deli items are different, too.
We had jacket potato and cottage pie for lunch.

Rejoice! The Lord is King

Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh

Rejoice! The Lord is King,
your Lord and King adore.
Mortals, give thanks and sing,
and triumph evermore:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say: Rejoice!

This morning, we sang this hymn at St.Giles Cathedral
accompanied by a magnificent pipe organ.

A Scottish Farmers Market

This farmers market has a view of the castle.
Mostly meat, cheese and baked goods were being sold.
And whiskey, too.
